The Dillinger Escape Plan: Rebirth

The Dillinger Escape Plan announces a comeback, including the release of a new album and the addition of a new guitarist to the band. “Ire Works” will be out in November and the band will embark on a European tour with Meshuggah after that. Guitarist Jeff Tuttle has been added to the lineup.

“Over the past year and a half, the most chaotic time of our career, many have speculated on our possible demise, including ourselves at times. Now after everything, we have what we feel is easily the best album we have ever created, and the feeling in the air has never been more exciting. We are proud to announce that “Ire Works” will be coming out on November 13th, and that we will be embarking on our first North American headlining tour since Dec 2005 in October. All dates will be posted as they are confirmed, some are up now. Support will come from A Life Once Lost, Genghis Tron, and Behold…The Arctopus.”

Manuel Barrueco plays Piazzolla

A new CD by classical guitarist Manuel Barrueco entitled “Solo Piazzolla”, was released on July 15, 2007 containning only music by the Argentinian composer. The CD includes Piazzolla’s well known “Verano Porteño”, “Invierno Porteño”, as well as “Cinco Piezas”, and Barrueco’s arrangements of the “Tango-Études”, originally written for solo flute. Another CD by Barrueco featuring Piazzolla’s music will come out this fall with the Grammy nominated quartet Cuarteto Latinoamericano. The CD is called “Tango Sensations” and includes Barrueco’s arrangements of the Five Tango Sensations, as well as La Muerte del Ángel, Milonga del Ángel, Libertango by Piazzolla, and Jeromita Linares by Guastavino. The albums are part of the new Manuel Barrueco Collection and are available from TonarMusic.com.

Megadeth: Roadie For a Day

The band Megadeth is giving its fans a chance to be Mustaine’s roadie for a day. Their website states the following: “How would you like to be Dave Mustaine’s personal assistant for the day??!! Or have VIP backstage passes, or be ‘Roadie For A Day’ at a show on the upcoming US Tour?!! The MegaFanClub is now offering a chance at all of this to its members with a fan club membership drive!! Van Halen and David Lee Roth

Beginning this September Van Halen will embark on a national concert tour throughout the U.S. and Canada with its original lead singer David Lee Roth for the first time in 22 years. Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen will perform with Eddie’s 16 year old son, Wolfgang, who joins the line-up as the band’s bass player. “This is not a reunion. This is a new band,” said Roth at a news conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, and later added, “This is not ‘rockers with walkers’.”

Van Halen and David Lee Roth have not performed or recorded together since 1984′s classic multi-platinum album 1984 and subsequent tour. Twenty five dates have been announced for the tour which is scheduled for a September 27th kick-off in Charlotte, North Carolina. Pat Metheny Trio Tour

The Pat Metheny Trio with Christian McBride on bass and Antonio Sanchez on drums, will hit the road in October after completing a new recording that is due out in early February 2008. The trio will tour through the midwest, northeast and then after a short break, continue on to South Africa. The tour will continue in February and March, 2008. More dates will be announced soon.

Metheny’s website has also announced a new “Pat Metheny podcast series” section, where fans can listen to Metheny himself talking about the insights into the making of his records.
